Short circuit

Ron G. from Detroit sent us his fat-loss workout in search of a better plan. Here’s what we came up with.

 

RON’S OLD WORKOUT

Exercises performed as a circuit without rest and repeated for 3–5 rounds.

Machine Chest Press 20
Lat Pulldown 20
Leg Press 20
Machine Overhead Press 20
Dumbbell Curl 20

OUR ADVICE

This workout might give you a good pump, but it’s not involving enough muscle to make for great cardio. Choose exercises that train the whole body and keep your heart rate up. Experiment with special equipment if you have it, but lay off the machines!

RON’S NEW WORKOUT

Perform exercises as a circuit, resting 30 seconds between exercises. Repeat for 3–5 rounds.
